Richard Wark:
I did not coin the term: "Jewish Nation". This was the moniker used by the League of Nations charter. BTW: Egypt, Iraq and Persia were L.O.N. members and therefore, acceded to this reality. But I digress.
At least you admit that anti-Semitism is existent and in fact growing.
You wrote:
"What is creating anti-Semitism on the Left (as well as elsewhere) is the false assertion that Israel is an essential part of Judaism. As long as Judaism is forced to carry the load of Israeli policy, the creation of anti-Semitic attitudes is inevitable."
Of course the Jews get blamed for the Anti-Semitism. Why am I not surprized?
Israel exists as an independent nation. Many of those who are religiously observant Jews, may also believe that it exists as a Biblical entity. Even among the very religious, opinions on this point vary. However, the argument is really not whether God created Israel as much as it is whether Israel exists by right or by wrong.
I have now decided to begin a series of quotations from Phillis Chesler's book:
"The New Anti-Semitism". This appears essential for people like yourself, who refuse to face reality and might need the (legitimate) rantings of a menopausal Jewish, leftist, feminist, intellectual expert (college professor).
"The lies of the new Anti-Semitism, the partial truths, the diabolical distortions, the raw filth, the hate, are perhaps too hard for any one person to confront and combat. . . . . The truth is no match for lies. Lies take no work; one simply makes them us and keeps on repeating them. . . . Most American and European intellectuals, have not stood up to the orgy of racism against the Jews; on the contrary, they have been leading the racist mobs. "

Is the Vatican a Catholic nation?
Is Saudi Arabia a Muslim nation?
The fact that there is one and only one Jewish Nation does not change its core-character.
The "superiority" aspect is a complete fabrication of your mind. Separate does not necessarily include "superior". If it did, the Hawaiian island of Molokai would equally be guilty of racist, apartheid policies, since very few non Hawaiians live there, (as would Vatican City and Mecca).

If you (as a Jew) were in need of a refuge to run to, Israel would become your Nation, sir, which is why it exists. Your post (in sum and substance) actually skeeved me but in respect to Mitchell, I will not equivocate your remarks, tit-for-tat.

Mr. Farash, I will not get used to it. I will not accept the behavior of Israel nor will I accept the continued use of the term "anti-Semitism" as a hammer to beat down those with the courage to face the reality of the occupation.
What is creating anti-Semitism on the Left (as well as elsewhere) is the false assertion that Israel is an essential part of Judaism. As long as Judaism is forced to carry the load of Israeli policy, the creation of anti-Semitic attitudes is inevitable.
I reject your term “Jewish Nation.” I am Jewish and it is not my nation. I am also a “leftist” and one thing that means to me is that I reject any notion that promotes ethnic or religious separation and/or superiority. I oppose the policies of Israel for the same reason I opposed the policies of South Africa and continue to oppose the policies of many other nations.

I did a very minor re-read of "The New Anti-Semitism"
http://www.amazon.com/New-Anti-Semitism-Current-Crisis-About/dp/0787978035/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202956998&sr=1-1
This book is an exhaustive chronicle of the filthy mistreatment which Israel, and by proxy, the World's Jews have to endure.
The author, Phyllis Chesler, is a leftist, feminist college professor, who was at one time married to an Arab man and who just became fed-up with the waterfall of bull-crap. Any leftist who is singly critical of Israel and is not willing to read her very informative book, is either stuck squarely inside Orwell’s 1984 or, refuses to consider discussing any subject other then the despicability of the Jews.
One group of Arabs (Palestinians) have become severely oppressed, equaling about 1.3% of the world’s Arab population. Arguably, they had something to do with their own distressed condition. Whereas 100% of the world’s Jews, no matter what their national lineage, contemporary nationality, politics or even which religious branch of Judaism they might belong, are at some level being denied their full human rights, by the false and unfair stigmatism--associated with the perceived Israeli crimes against humanity.
Once this reality is accepted, it becomes much clearer why the Palestinians have been subjugated. Whereas an old-fashioned war would inevitably cost countless lives, the war of Jewish condemnation can go on indefinitely, without sacrificing the Palestinian-Arabs actual mortality, while they multiply and convince the world that no other injustice on earth compares to theirs. In the minds and souls of the Arab and Muslim leaders who have orchestrated this mess, they are actually doing their Palestinian brethren a profound favor by not marching them (Custer-like) to their deaths in war after war against the “Zionist entity”.

I have never been a "one issue" voter. However, many people are--and they are free to remain so. Those who consider themselves 'leftist' supporters of Ron Paul (due to his mid East policy) go over the line of reason. Ron Paul is so conservative that serious talk has emerged from the radical right-wing, of him running a 3rd party candidacy (a.k.a. a payback "spoiler") for McCain.
Such people remind me of Princess Dianna disciples, only on steroids. They live their lives from a fantasy perspective.
Is it not a simple possibility that Mr. Obama is intellectually sympathetic with the Israelis? Why does he have to be accused of being the puppet for those evil Israeli Pacs? Even Mitchell's explanation, that Obama is merely following U.S. public opinion, seems unfair to Obama and unfair to Israel. It infers that once elected, Obama would then morph his opinion and do what his conscience actually dictates. Maybe he is actually supportive of the Jewish Nation. The problem with that explanation is that leftists often reject the notion that a person can be liberal and yet support Israel.
To those people I say:
Get used to it!
From my perspective, its entirely organic and natural. That does not mean we need to agree with every decision made by the Israeli government. It merely means that while there have always been anti-Semites within the political "left", they do NOT control the agenda for everyone else.
